Actress Jiah Khan's suicide at her 'Sagar Sangeet' residence in Juhu on Monday night came as a unexpected shock to the Industry.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that Jiah was in a relationship with Suraj who is the son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. The actress has gone into depression ever since she came to know about Suraj's affair with another girl who supplies jewellery to his family.  On Monday, Both Jiah and Suraj spoke over phone a number of times and the last call was made at 10:53 pm which lasted for only 2 minutes. They even exchanged several text messages and Suraj even sent a bouquet which she didn't accept. Post Mortem report shows the actress hanged herself between 11 pm to 11:30 pm.  On the other hand, Jiah wasn't happy with her career too. Ever since she had gone for the audition to Hyderabad on June 2nd where she was advised to shed weight, the actress looked depressed.  Police took Suraj and his actor-father Aditya Pancholi into custody and questioned for about three-and-a-half hours on Tuesday.

Rana Daggubati playing cameo in Hindi film ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.

According to film buzz,Rana role is not a pivot role in this film .Moreover, Playing this kind of role Rana degraded himself.

Rana as Vikram is seen in the film for just 2 minutes as a friend to Deepika Padukone meets her in a friend wedding party.

Meanwhile Ranbir Kapoor (boy friend to heroine) comes to chat with Deepika Padukone , Seeing Ranbir , Rana asks him to leave the place for some time . But Ranbir, a cool headed character in the film reacts very awkwardly and in a harsh voice Ranbir warns Rana to getaway between them. Rana leaves the place.

Although , the reaction of character in the film might be natural but the way Ranbir shouts at south Indian hero looks very odd and Rana doesn’t need such roles to degrade his stature.

There are films and then there are Salman Khan films. The former kind needs a good script, good screenplay and decent acting chops to be liked. The latter kind just needs Salman Khan to be his own charming self. The problem with the Yash Raj Films produced Ek Tha Tiger is that director Kabir Khan tries to mix the two kinds of films and doesn’t quite manage to do a good job of it. A bigger problem is that Salman Khan’s charm is completely missing here.
Tiger (Salman Khan) is a RAW intelligence officer who believes in letting his punches do the talking. His latest assignment takes him to Dublin where he meets Zoya (Katrina Kaif), part-time caretaker of the scientist he has to keep an eye on. The two fall in love, but along comes a twist in the tale which turns Tiger’s life upside down. Now Tiger has to choose between his love and his duty towards his country.
Ek Tha Tiger is primarily a love story with huge doses of action thrown in. The action part works, and how! The film has some of the best action scenes in the history of Bollywood. However, they are brought down a notch by Salman’s low-on-energy body language. It doesn’t help that he looks paunchy and too out of shape for some of the stunts. The romance part just doesn’t work – neither the romantic comedy of the first half, nor the intense love story of the second half. A big part of the blame for this goes to the poor screenplay. It completely fails to engage the viewers and it is only during a handful of action scenes in the second half that one feels totally involved in the proceedings.
Since the screenplay is not engaging enough, the loopholes in the story itself become more apparent. And they are so many that they make the intelligence officers (of many countries) look plain dumb. Unfortunately, the dull and poorly picturised songs do nothing to brighten up the proceedings. The cinematography does deserve brownie points to highlight the local flavours of all the countries the protagonists travel to.
Kabir Khan made Katrina give her career best performance in New York and here again she shines as the spunky Zoya. Be it the light moments or the emotional ones, she hits the right notes. The biggest surprise of the film is how well she does the action scenes – in fact she trumps Salman in quite a few. Salman, on the other hand, looks quite uncomfortable playing the sauve intelligence agent. His dialogue delivery is monotonous and his expressions are all wrong most of the time. Like I mentioned earlier, the trademark Salman charm is missing. The supporting cast of Girish Karnad, Roshan Seth and Ranveer Shorey gives the film a next-level respectability, though none of them seem convinced with what they are doing.
Ek Tha Tiger is a film that had everything going for it – two biggest stars, high production values, immense hype, but once again the lack of a good script brought a potentially good film down. This Tiger doesn’t quite manage to roar.

Ten million female fetuses are estimated to have been aborted over the past two decades in India according to ActionAid. 35 million females are also ‘missing’ according to the 2001 National Indian Census. Female feticide is an urgent and prevalent issue, and this horror does not only apply to India. Oxford University research based on birth statistics revealed that 1500 females from England and Wales have gone ‘missing’ since 1990. Sons being valued higher than daughters seem to have become ‘the norm’ in Indian Society. Whilst some parents feel their daughters to be the ‘Laxmi’ (Goddess) of the house, others are repulsed by them. The expense of paying a dowry, the responsibility of family honour resting upon a daughter, as well as daughter’s being viewed as ‘parahi’ (belonging to her husband’s family) are some factors that encourage the murdering of an unborn female child.
This shocking issue of female feticide is addressed by Nila Madhab Panda in his forthcoming film Jal Pari: The Desert Mermaid. Tannishtha Chatterjee expressed both the importance of the film’s message and her own responsibility as an actress to deliver it to the Times of India: “Being a woman and an actress, it is very important for me to support a film like this.” Furthermore Chatterjee also expressed her views on society as holding double standards – particularly towards females. She stated to IANS, “On one hand, we enjoy watching item numbers, but on the other hand if a girl goes to a party in a short skirt, she gets molested.”
Society is in desperate need to acknowledge and change its shameful preconceptions and Jal Pariencourages society to do just that. Already having been screened at the 65th Cannes Film Festival, the film received a glowing response. The issue of female feticide is tackled in a light-hearted manner in the film, being shown as a child’s adventure. Shreya (Lehar Khan) is an urban Delhi girl who spends her vacation at her father’s village. Being a curious child and always up for an adventure she ends up discovering a shockingly horrific secret that’s hidden away in the village.
Chatterjee plays a supporting role, whilst child stars Lehar Khan and Krishang Trivedi lead as the protagonists. Child star Harsh Mayar of ‘I am Kalam’ also plays a prominent role. On her experience working with child artists, Chatterjee told Times of India: “I love working with children.” She described them as “natural…They are so genuine in their acting.” Jal Pari’s star cast also consists of Parvin Dabs, Rahul Singh, Suhasini Mulay and V.M Badola.
Issues as horrific as female feticide are perhaps easier to confront through a film that has the innocence and inquisitive nature of a child’s adventure. Perhaps having child protagonists emphasises not only the beauty and importance of childhood, but also the value of children- both male and female.

The second installment of Anurag’s gangland epicGangs of Wasseypur is finally out. Originally played back to back with part one at the Cannes Film Festival, the second part is literally the same film continued from where the first left off. If you want to refresh or introduce yourself to the first one here is our review for you again. For the rest of you who have been waiting since the first part, what you really need to know is what happened next? Was part two worth the wait? Is part two as good as the first? And for those who have held off, should I now go and watch them both back to back? Read on for all your answers and more…
Without giving the plot away, part one ended with the death of Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpai) and part two opens with his corpse being received by his family members. This part charts the rise of his son Faizal Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), alongside his sons from his second marriage, Definite, played by debutant Zeishan Quadri, who was also co-writer of the film and of course the ultimate revenge upon Ramadheer Singh (Tigmanshu Dhulia) for the deaths of Sardar Khan and his father in the first part, both of the characters played by Manoj Bajpai.
Much of the views from our first review hold true here again, as this part is still the same gritty and rural style, characters, coarse language, blasé killings, great rural music and comic moments. The key thing to remember is that both parts are essentially one long film, cut into two parts, which have been released separately. This is not like Kill Bill Volume 1 and Kill Bill Volume 2, where both were again the same film, but volume one focussed on the now and action, whereas volume 2 focussed on the backstory and drama. What we have with Gangs of Wasseypur 2 from a narrative perspective is the same themes carried on for another two and half hours.
Talking of narrative this is probably where part two fails to culminate, the core narrative is no different from the first. It also regularly strays to cover a number of subplots, for example the relationship between Nawazuddin and Huma Qureshi. Therefore, the real action and purpose of the film – revenge, does not really take off until an hour and half into the film. The other key issue with the film is it’s purpose and redemption, neither of which we really get to feel.
If you recall Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, the whole reason Leonardo DiCaprio joins Daniel Day-Lewis’ gang is because he is ruthlessly focussed on avenging his father’s death. Here the character of Sardar Khan was so flawed and so disliked, with his sons so estranged from him, you lack any real compassion or satisfaction when Faizal finally does take revenge. Also much like his father in the first part, he seems to waste the entire film in frivolous acts, none of which really bring him any closer to attaining revenge.
Further, from a climax perspective, if you recall Aamir Khan in Ghajini, you really wanted and waited for him to get to Ghajini and avenge the murder of his love. Ditto Amitabh Bachchan in Agneepath, but here there is no such emotion or relief by the time the climax arrives.
So was part two worth the wait? Well, if you have seen the first part, then you do need to finish part two, just so you know how the story ended. And should you watch them back to back? Not really, you could quite easily watch the first one for all the reasons we suggested in our first review and then if you really wanted, watch the second one soon after, but a break you will need from the excessive length of both parts.
In the end, the first part for us was so much better, primarily due to Manoj Bajpai’s performance, that if we were pushed to take a pick, the first part will definitely remain longer in memory than the second one. What would be amazing is if they could release a super edited version of both parts, which can bring them into a complete three hours, that way the film would find a much larger and wider audience and would make for a far refined viewing experience.
It is probably 3 stars for both parts put together, purely as it is a complete cinematic attempt from Anurag Kashyap and a complete cinematic experience for the viewers, but it’s 2 ½ stars for part two alone!

The first look of OMG OH, MY GOD !!starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal was revealed today.

The campaign was divided into two posters, the first one introducing us to the protagonist, Kanji Bhai, the God challenger, played by veteran actor Paresh Rawal while the second poster made us meet God himself featuring Akshay Kumar as a reel God.

What caught our attention is Akshay's contemporary look in the film. Since the time the film was announced, everyone waited with bated breath to see how Akshay would be styled as God in the movie. The posters ended the wait revealing Akshay playing a mod-God fully armed with his superbike looking totally superhuman.

OH MY GOD is a screen adaptation of Umesh Shukla's Gujarati play 'Kanji Virudhh Kanji', which has also been remade in Hindi as 'Krishna vs Kanhaiya'. The film, a by product of Grazing Goat Pictures, a joint venture between Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi releases on 28th September, 2012.
